'I Wanna Cook Them Every Time,' Anthony Edwards Talks Being Guarded by LeBron, Durant in NBA ASG
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has shown early in his career that he's not willing to back down to NBA legends, and he kept that same attitude in this year's All-Star Game.
After beating the USA Stripes team that included LeBron James, Kevin Durant and other veterans, Edwards discussed his mindset when a star matches up with him.
"I wanna cook them every time, you know that" Edwards said.
Edwards put on a show in his fourth All-Star appearance, posting 32 points across three games to give his team a win in the new format. Edwards' performance earned him his first All-Star Game MVP.
The 24-year-old Edwards is still relatively young compared to players like James and Durant, but he's quickly put himself among the league's best. He's putting up 29.3 points per game on 49.3 percent from the field and 40.2 percent from deep. The Timberwolves are in sixth place in the West at 34-22.
Part of what has made Edwards so successful is the fact that he's never been afraid to go up against stars, even legends like Durant and James. On Sunday, that meant beating a team of veterans in the All-Star game, but he's also gone up against and defeated some of the league's best in the playoffs.
Edwards and Minnesota have been knocking on the door of reaching the Finals for a few years now, reaching the Western Conference Finals in each of the last two years, and he'll look to get them to the next level this season.
