Joe Lunardi 2026 Bracketology 68-Team Bracket, Bubble Teams and Conference Breakdown

Scott PolacekFeb 15, 2026

March is right around the corner, which means one thing for men's college basketball fans.

It's time to constantly refresh Joe Lunardi's updates.

The ESPN analyst provided a bracketology update for his projected 68-team bracket late Saturday night following a full day of college hoops action, and San Diego State, Ohio State, New Mexico and California fans might want to look away.

That is because they are the bubble teams listed as the "first four out," while USC, UCLA, TCU and Missouri are the "last four in" the field.

Here is a look at Lunardi's full update:

Attention always turns to the bubble, and it is a crowded one for the Big Ten in particular.

USC, UCLA and Ohio State are all listed in the final four teams in or out groups with the Bruins and Trojans in and the Buckeyes on the outside. That is notable since Ohio State went 2-0 in its head-to-head games against UCLA and USC, but there is far more that goes into the bubble picture than one or two head-to-head games.

After all, the Scarlet and Gray lost to Virginia on Saturday, which made them an ugly 0-8 against Quad 1 opponents this season, per NCAA.com. They have largely taken care of business against overmatched opponents but do not have a single notable win, which is why they are firmly on the bubble.

Elsewhere, there is plenty of Big 12 and SEC representation on the bubble at this point.

The SEC's Texas and Georgia are listed in the "last four byes" category, while Missouri is the final team in Lunardi's field despite Saturday's loss to the Longhorns. Fortunately for the Tigers, they will have plenty of chances down the stretch to pick up key wins with two games against Arkansas and another against Vanderbilt still on the schedule.

As for the Big 12, UCF is listed among the last four byes, while TCU is among the last four in and West Virginia is one of the "next four out." The next two games for the Horned Frogs are against the Knights and Mountaineers, which could go a long way toward determining whether they make the Big Dance.

Life is far less stressful for Michigan, UConn, Duke and Arizona, who are the four No. 1 seeds in Lunardi's latest update.

The Wolverines are the No. 1 overall seed, which comes as anything but a surprise considering they are 24-1 overall and 14-1 in Big Ten play. They haven't just been scraping by teams either, as 20 of their 24 victories have come by double figures.

It is an accomplishment for opponents at this point if they still have a chance to win in the second half when they square off against Michigan, and the Maize and Blue will have the opportunity to further cement their dominance down the stretch with high-profile matchups against Purdue, Duke, Illinois and Michigan State.

That matchup with the Blue Devils in particular could be a national championship preview.
