Damian Lillard Says He's Eying Historic 4th NBA 3-Point Contest Win in Video With Giannis

Julia StumbaughFeb 14, 2026

Damian Lillard already has his eyes on a historic fourth NBA 3-Point contest win in 2027.

Lillard spoke about his aspirations for a rematch after claiming his third straight victory in the competition Saturday during the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.

"I'm gonna do it again next year. Got to," Lillard told Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo after winning the event Saturday night.

Lillard won the 2026 Three-Point Shootout despite not having played this season amid ongoing rehab of his Achilles injury.

He will now join Larry Bird and Craig Hodges as one of three players to win the event three times.

Lillard has been sidelined since April 7, 2025, when he suffered the ruptured left Achilles tendon that ended his final season with the Bucks during a playoff loss to the Pacers.

After undergoing successful surgery on the injury in May, he was released by the Bucks and subsequently rejoined the Portland Trail Blazers in July.

Lillard has previously indicated his hope is to rejoin the Blazers for the start of the 2026-27 season.

He made his return to an NBA court in a Blazers jersey for the first time since 2023 on Saturday, when he scored 27 points in the first round of Saturday's 3-Point Contest to join the Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker and Charlotte Hornets' Kon Knueppel in the final.

Lillard then posted 29 points in the final, including a run of 10 straight three-pointers, to beat out Booker and Knueppel for his historic third win in the event.

Booker came just short of beating Lillard, scoring 27 in the final round before missing his last three shots.

"At the end, I was kind of at his mercy," Lillard said. "I was just like, 'Man, these shots can't go in. I need this one.' So, it fell my way."

Bird won the first three editions of the 3-Point Contest while representing the Boston Celtics from 1986 and 1988, while Hodges was in a Chicago Bulls jersey when he took home three straight awards between 1990 and 1992.

Lillard won his first two contests while representing the Trail Blazers in 2023 and the Bucks in 2024.

He was eliminated in the first round of the 2025 event as the Miami Heat's Tyler Herro claimed the win with a score of 24 points in the fianl round.

Lillard could now look to become the first competitor in NBA history to claim four 3-Point Contest titles if he returns to the event, hopefully as a fully active player for the Blazers, in 2027.
