Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Edwards Reveal If They'll Cry When LeBron James Retires From NBA

Julia StumbaughFeb 14, 2026

Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards had different answers when asked Saturday if they will cry when LeBron James officially retires from the NBA.

When asked the question during Saturday's All-Star media day, Wembanyama answered, "No."

Wembanyama continued, "I'm not going to shed a tear, but it is going to be very weird, for sure."

When given the same question, Edwards said, "I might cry, a little bit."

The question comes one day after James, 41, became the oldest player in NBA history to record a triple-double with 28 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in a Friday win over the Dallas Mavericks.

James has not yet confirmed if he plans to return for a historic 24th NBA season when his current contract with the Lakers expires this spring. ESPN's Tim MacMahon recently said there is "rampant speculation" around the NBA that James will sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason.

In that case, Wembanyama and Edwards would have at least one more season playing with the NBA's all-time leading scorer.

For now, Edwards (Team Stars) and Wembanyama (Team World) will both be taking on James and Team Stripes when the round-robin tournament that makes up the 2026 All-Star Game tips off Saturday at 5 p.m. ET. at the Intuit Dome.
