Arkansas men's basketball coach John Calipari has secured a commitment from one of the top-ranked players in the class of 2026.

Five-star guard Jordan Smith announced his commitment to Arkansas on Friday after considering Duke, Kentucky, Syracuse, Georgetown, and Indiana as final options.

Smith is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the nation and No. 1 combo guard by 247Sports.

247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein described Smith as "a good athlete who excels defensively, has switchability on that end of the floor because of his physical strength and toughness, and is also an elite perimeter rebounder."

"Offensively, he gets downhill likes few other guards in the class and has consistently developed his ball skills over the years so that he now has legitimate on/off ball versatility... His intangibles are truly elite and so while he may not have totally ideal size or ball skills, he's extremely hard to bet against," Finkelstein wrote.

Smith, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, currently attends Paul VI Catholic High School in Virginia.

ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi wrote that Jordan "has a reputation as the player in the 2026 class who consistently impacts winning the most."

"From an athletic standpoint, he is physically imposing and powerful with a 6-9 wingspan and a chiseled physique," Borzello and Biancardi wrote. "He utilizes his frame and excels defensively. He is switchable with anyone on that end of the floor because of his strength and toughness. He's also an elite perimeter rebounder."

Borzello and Biancardi went on to project Smith as a future first-round NBA draft pick.

Smith ranked top-ten in the EYBL with 20.4 points, 4.2 assists and 2.4 steals per game in EYBL competition last season.

He also has international experience with USA Basketball, where he won gold medals during the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2025 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup.

Arkansas currently has three 2026 commits in a class that's ranked fifth in the nation by 247Sports.

Calipari has also received letters of intent from two five-star forwardsin JJ Andrews (No. 16 overall prospect, according to 247Sports) and Abdou Toure (No. 22 overall prospect, per 247Sports).

The Razorbacks, who are currently ranked 21st in the AP poll after an 18-6 start to the season, are projected to lose top scorers Darius Acuff Jr. and Meleek Thomas to the 2026 NBA draft.

Bringing in a strong freshman class will be key to Calipari's hopes of building an NCAA Tournament contender without them next fall.
