Collin Sexton Fined By NBA for Making Inappropriate Gesture in Bulls' Loss to Nets

Chicago Bulls guard Collin Sexton has earned a hefty fine after making an obscene gesture in Monday's loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The league announced Tuesday that Sexton has been fined $35,000 for flipping his middle finger at the rim after going 1-of-2 at the line.

It's unclear whether Sexton was truly frustrated by the missed free throw or if he was just joking around, but either way, it cost him $35,000. The Bulls lost Monday's contest to the Nets 123-115. Sexton, who was playing in his first game with Chicago, posted 21 points off the bench in the loss.

Sexton, who spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers before playing for the Utah Jazz for three years, started the 2025-26 campaign with the Charlotte Hornets after being traded over the offseason.

His stint in Charlotte lasted less than a full season, as he was traded to the Bulls at the deadline alongside Ousmane Dieng and two second-round picks. The Hornets landed Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. in return for that haul.

Charlotte initially sent three second-round picks to the Bulls in the trade, but the deal was amended after White's physical showed a calf injury.

Sexton, the former No. 8 overall pick, is putting up 14.4 points per game this season and mostly came off the bench for the Hornets. How he'll factor into the Bulls' plans remains to be seen as the team seemingly moves towards a rebuild.

He appeared to bring some energy to the Bulls in the trade.

The Bulls are currently sitting in 11th place in the East at 24-30.
