Giannis Joins Chelsea FC Women's Ownership Group Amid NBA Season with Bucks
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo announced that he's joining the ownership group of Chelsea FC Women on Saturday.
"Chelsea's history speaks for itself, and I'm excited to contribute to the future by supporting continued growth and impact in women's sport," Antetokounmpo wrote as part of his announcement on social media. "This is about ambition, legacy, and pushing the game to new heights. Up the Chels!"
Antetokounmpo is no stranger to investing in other teams, becoming a minority owner in MLS squad Nashville SC in March 2023. He also joined the Milwaukee Brewers' ownership group in 2021.
Chelsea FC Women currently own a record of 8-3-3, sitting at No. 3 in the Women's Super League standings with 27 points. The club is attempting to win the league title for the seventh consecutive year.
As for Antetokounmpo, he's in the midst of his 13th season with the Bucks and remained with the team beyond Thursday's trade deadline despite his involvement in rumors of a potential swap.
The two-time MVP has averaged 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game while connecting on 64.5 percent of his field goals this year.
