Draymond Green Talks 'Nerve-Wracking' Giannis, Warriors Trade Rumors After NBA Deadline

Adam WellsFeb 6, 2026

Even though Draymond Green presented himself in the days leading up to the trade deadline as not stressing over his name popping up in rumors, he admitted afterward that it did take some toll on him.

Speaking to reporters after the Golden State Warriors' victory over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, Green called it "nerve-wracking" as the deadline got closer and he was unsure where he might be playing.

"It got nerve wracking towards the end," Green said. "But yeah, it is what it is. Move forward. It's not something I want to get used to, though."

"It's been a weird 24 hours," Green added. "Everybody kind of just sitting on edge with the trade deadline. And then obviously the trade—lose three guys that you got relationships with, but that is the business that we're in."

As the Warriors attempted to put together a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo, ESPN's Anthony Slater reported that Green's name was included as part of their "active trade conversations" with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Green acknowledged the rumors prior to the trade deadline, saying that he had quite the "f--king run" with the Warriors if it did end.

It became more apparent on Wednesday night that trading Green wasn't going to happen because the Warriors opted to move Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks for Kristaps Porziņģis.

Green and the Warriors responded to the non-move in a big way by defeating the Suns. They erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to move within three games of Phoenix for the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference.

The 35-year-old Green has spent his entire NBA career with the Warriors, helping them win four titles in 14 seasons.
