Stephen Curry Injury Update, Latest Status and Timeline for Warriors Star After All-Star Break

Doric SamFeb 19, 2026

Golden State Warriors star guard Stephen Curry will remain sidelined coming out of the All-Star break due to a knee injury.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, an MRI on Curry's knee revealed no structural damage. He is dealing with "persistent pain and swelling" as he works his way back from the injury, per Charania.

Charania added that it's unclear when Curry will return to the court, though the star point guard will be re-evaluated in 10 days.

This unfortunately will make him ineligible for any postseason awards as he won't be able to reach the required 65 games played:

The Warriors announced Wednesday that Curry is out for Thursday's game against the Boston Celtics due to his knee injury.

Head coach Steve Kerr provided an update on the issue after practice:

Curry exited Golden State's Jan. 30 loss to the Detroit Pistons and was later diagnosed with runner's knee, which forced him to miss the team's next five games, plus the All-Star Game. While there was hope he would be back to full strength after the break, the guard clearly still needs more time.

The 2025-26 season has been full of setbacks for the 37-year-old, as he also missed time earlier in the year with quad and ankle injuries. His knee began giving him problems near the end of last month, as he was listed as day-to-day on the injury report dating back to Jan. 24.

Despite his injury-riddled year, Curry has continued to perform at a high level in his 17th season. He was named a starter for the All-Star Game after averaging 27.2 points per game on 46.8 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The Warriors are already depleted after losing star forward Jimmy Butler to a season-ending torn ACL. Being without Curry creates more pressure for veteran forward Draymond Green to hold down the fort.

While Curry remains sidelined, Golden State will rely on guards Brandin Podziemski and De'Anthony Melton to fill his role until he makes his way back into the lineup.
