Dillon Brooks Makes Bold Claim About Guarding Victor Wembanyama, 'I Have His Number'
Dillon Brooks has established himself as a solid defender, but the Phoenix Suns guard made a bold statement about his ability to defend San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.
"I have his number. Go check that up, and he knows it too,"ย he told YouTuber N3on. "That's the one guy in the NBA that I have his number and everybody is taking that blueprint at guarding him."
Brooks then broke down how coaches should approach defending Wembanyama.

"You never guard him with a big," he said. "You got to put a guard on him. Crawl up all in his space. Guard him tight the whole time and not let him set up dribbles and then keep him away from the rim. [He] panics."
While bold, Brooks' statement might have some substance. Wembanyama averages just 16.7 points per game against Brooks, far fewer than his career average. Brooks has also won five of his seven matchups against Wembanyama.
Brooks hasn't shied away from talking trash to some of the league's best, and a career season seemingly hasn't changed that. Brooks is putting up 21.1 points per game, leading Phoenix to a surprisingly strong 30-19 start.
