Trae Young Wears John Wall Wizards Jersey in Photo on Celebration Night for Former NBA Star
Washington Wizards guard Trae Young represented franchise legend John Wall by wearing his No. 2 jersey on Thursday evening, when the team honored the five-time All-Star with his own Celebration Night as the team hosted the Milwaukee Bucks.
Wall, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft, enjoyed much success in town and led the Wizards to the playoffs four times over a five-year span.
Wall averaged 19.0 points, 9.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game for the Wizards. He was a member of the team for a decade and particular starred over a five-season period where he made the All-Star Game each year from 2014-2018.
Unfortunately, injuries sidelined him for large periods of time near the end of his Wizard tenure, to the point where he missed all of 2019-20 after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Still, Wall brought much excitement to the nation's capital, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see his jersey raised in the rafters someday.
For now, Wall was in town to call the game for Amazon Prime Video as an NBA analyst in his new gig.
Young, who is currently sidelined with a sprained MCL in his right knee and a bruised quadriceps, certainly understood the importance of recognizing Wall with him in the building.
The Wizards are hoping for some success like Wall experienced in the mid-2010s and are currently in rebuilding mode, sitting last in the Eastern Conference with an 11-34 record.
