NBA Trade Rumors on Kyle Kuzma, Bobby Portis with Giannis Reportedly 'Ready' For Bucks Move

Zach BacharJan 28, 2026

The Milwaukee Bucks have "gauged the trade value" of Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis with Giannis Antetokounmpo's future as a member of the organization uncertain, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto.

Per Scotto, the Bucks held discussions about improving around the margins with "several veteran minimum players" in separate trade talks to acquire "higher-priced upgrades" before Antetokounmpo suffered a calf injury on Friday.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday that Antetokounmpo "is ready for a new home" at the trade deadline or in the offseason, with multiple rival teams making "aggressive offers" for him.

Charania also noted Milwaukee has brought up Kuzma and Portis in trade talks as it tries to operate as a buyer ahead of the deadline, but hasn't made a major splash because of the uncertainty surrounding Antetokounmpo's future.

The Bucks currently sit at No. 12 in the Eastern Conference standings with an 18-27 record.

Milwaukee is 15-15 in the 30 games Antetokounmpo has appeared in this year, going 3-12 without him.

As for Kuzma, he's in the midst of his first full season with the Bucks after they acquired him in a trade with the Washington Wizards ahead of the 2025 deadline.

He's averaging 12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 32.0 percent from behind the arc during his 2025-26 campaign.

Kuzma has a $22.4 million cap hit this season and a $20.3 million cap hit for the 2026-27 season before hitting free agency, via Spotrac.

Meanwhile, Portis has remained an efficient offensive option for the Bucks off the bench despite some lingering defensive concerns.

The 30-year-old is recording 13.2 points and 6.6 rebounds in 24.0 minutes per game on 48.7/45.8/72.1 shooting splits.

If the Bucks ultimately retain Antetokounmpo at the deadline and pursue other avenues for a playoff push, Kuzma and Portis could be on the move.
