Latest Warriors Rumors on Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins Trade Talks With Heat Amid Giannis Buzz

Doric SamJan 28, 2026

The Golden State Warriors could be looking to reunite with one of their former stars, but it sounds like it won't be easy.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Warriors "have indeed engaged in discussions" with the Miami Heat regarding a potential trade that would send forward Jonathan Kuminga to South Beach in exchange for veteran wing Andrew Wiggins, who won an NBA championship with Golden State in 2022.

However, the Warriors' chances of bringing Wiggins back to the Bay Area could be hurt by Thursday's report from ESPN's Shams Charania that revealed Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is "ready for a new home ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline." The Heat could be among the teams preparing to make an offer to the Bucks, and Fischer explained that Wiggins would be a key piece in a potential trade for Antetokounmpo.

"It's believed that Miami — if it is parting with Wiggins at all — would prefer to use his salary as part of a deal that brings a star-caliber player back to South Beach," Fischer reported. "Wiggins' $28.2 million salary, in one obvious example, would help the Heat approach Antetokounmpo's $54.1 million in a theoretical deal with the Bucks."

Sources also told Fischer that Milwaukee "has long coveted Wiggins," though the franchise likely was more interested in bringing him in as a complemental piece alongside Antetokounmpo rather than in a deal that shipped the two-time NBA MVP to another team.

The Feb. 5 trade deadline is quickly approaching, so the Warriors are running out of time to find a trade destination for Kuminga. If the Heat choose to turn their attention toward pursuing Antetokounmpo or other star players, it can be expected that a reunion with Wiggins won't be a possibility for Golden State.
