Giannis Landing Spots Predicted by NBA Fans Amid Trade Rumors, Knicks, Heat Links
The outcome everyone has been anticipating for Giannis Antetokounmpo has finally arrived, as the two-time NBA MVP is ready to move on from the Milwaukee Bucks.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Wednesday that Antetokounmpo is "ready for a new home" either prior to the in-season trade deadline on Feb. 5 or in the offseason, and rival teams have started to make "aggressive offers" to the Bucks.
In response to the news, fans and analysts immediately started trying to predict landing spots for Antetokounmpo, with the New York Knicks and Miami Heat frequently popping up.

The Knicks are going to be the first team that stands out because Charania previously reported that Antetokounmpo singled them out as the one team he wanted to play for while doing due diligence on potential landing spots if he decided to seek a trade last summer.
Per Charania, the Bucks and Knicks did engage in talks "for a window of time" even though there was never any traction on a deal.
Building a trade for the Knicks could be complicated because their only first-round picks that can be used in a trade are swaps in 2026, 2030 and 2032, per ESPN's Bobby Marks.
Considering the Bucks don't control their own first-round pick until 2031, building a deal with swaps is difficult.
The Heat are almost always lurking in deals involving a superstar. NBA insider Marc Stein reported on Tuesday that people in the league consider Miami as the "likeliest" landing spot for Antetokounmpo.
Miami has its own first-round picks in 2030 and 2032 to include in a deal, as well as swaps in 2026 and every year from 2029 to '32.
It will be interesting to see how Antetokounmpo's health might impact any decisions the Bucks make. The nine-time All-Star has no official timeline to return after suffering a calf strain on Jan. 23, though he said he expects to be out at least four to six weeks.
Another factor in this whole thing is that the Bucks could probably get more teams involved in the bidding by waiting until the summer when clubs open up cap space.
If nothing else, the news that Antetokounmpo is open to a trade and the Bucks are listening certainly makes the trade deadline in eight days a lot more interesting than it seemed like it was going to be.
