Lawrence Frank, Clippers Reportedly Agree to Multiyear Contract Extension Amid Hot Streak
Early struggles indicated that the Los Angeles Clippers might be heading towards major changes, but after turning things around recently, Lawrence Frank reportedly has landed an extension.
Per The Athletic's Joe Vardon and Sam Amick, the Clippers gave their president of basketball operations a multiyear extension. The details of the deal were not disclosed, but Vardon and Amick noted that it's believed to be a four-year deal.
Frank, a long-time assistant coach in the NBA who served as the Nets head coach from 2004 to 2009 and the Pistons head coach from 2011 to 2013, has been with the Clippers since 2014. He initially joined the team as an assistant but was promoted to president of basketball operations in 2017.

In the years since that run to the Western Conference Finals, the Clippers have not won a playoff series and have been eliminated in the first round in each of the last three seasons.
At the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign, it appeared Los Angeles wasn't going to be in the playoff mix at all. The Clippers started the year 6-21 but have since gone 15-3 to improve to 21-24, good enough for 10th place in the Western Conference.
The turnaround has been led by veterans Kawhi Leonard, who is putting up 28.1 points per game, and James Harden, who is putting up 25.6 points and 8.1 assists per game.
While the Clippers getting back on track is a positive for Frank, Vardon and Amick noted that he and his senior staff "were on track for contract extensions" even when the team was struggling.
