Joel Embiid Appears to Troll Former Teammate with Alperen Sengun IG Photo After 76ers Beat Rockets
Joel Embiid's troll game was almost as impressive as his actual game against the Houston Rockets on Thursday night.
After putting up a triple-double in the Philadelphia 76ers' 128-122 overtime win, Embiid appeared to troll his former teammate Furkan Korkmaz for past comments about Alperen Şengün by posting a photo of himself staring down the Rockets big man.
Embiid captioned the photo with, "Furk....."
The image and caption could be a dig at Korkmaz, who said in September that Şengün surpassed Embiid as the best big man he ever played with in the NBA.
Korkmaz spent seven seasons with the 76ers from 2017 to 2024. He played alongside Şengün for the Turkish national team last summer at EuroBasket.
The comment from Korkmaz praising Şengün came after the 23-year-old became the youngest player in EuroBasket history to record a triple-double in Turkey's 91-77 win over Poland.
Embiid showed his ability in a major way by putting up 32 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists against the Rockets. It was his first triple-double of the season and ninth of his career.
Perhaps more important than Embiid's stat line, at least for the Sixers, was that he played 46 minutes. It marks the second time this month he has played at least 40 minutes in a game, surpassing his total from the previous two seasons combined (one).
The fact that Embiid is also back to posting online after games might suggest that he's feeling good about where his body is at right now. The Sixers (24-19) have already matched their win total from the entire 2024-25 season.
