Updated NBA Trade Rumors on DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis, Top Deadline Names

Zach BacharJan 23, 2026

The Golden State Warriors reportedly haven't shown any interest in acquiring DeMar DeRozan in a trade with the Sacramento Kings.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Warriors aren't targeting DeRozan but have "strong interest" in New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III instead. The Pelicans would need to change their current stance in order to move Murphy, though.

Sacramento could ultimately choose to part ways with a different veteran.

Per Amick, the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors are among the teams that have been eyeing Kings center Domantas Sabonis on the trade market.

Sabonis has averaged 15.4 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 17.4 percent from behind the arc this season. It's worth noting that he's only appeared in 14 of Sacramento's first 45 games due to a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.

While Sabonis doesn't fit the timeline of a 12-33 Kings squad at 29 years old, he could find a new home as a secondary offensive option on the trade market.

A change of scenery might help him look like his former self, as he recorded 19.2 points and 13.3 rebounds to go along with 7.2 assists per game on 60.0/39.6/73.1 shooting splits over the prior three seasons combined.

As for Golden State, it's easy to see why the team is focused on bolstering its wing rotation. Jimmy Butler suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Monday, while Jonathan Kuminga demanded to be traded on Jan. 15.

DeRozan doesn't appear to be a target for the Warriors, as the 36-year-old's scoring average of 18.8 points per game is his lowest since the 2012-13 season.

Meanwhile, Murphy has been a bright spot on a Pelicans squad sitting at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 10-36 record. He's averaged 22.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 38.3 percent from three while attempting 8.1 triples on a nightly basis.

New Orleans reportedly intends to keep Murphy beyond the deadline, though.

The 2026 trade deadline is on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
