Steph Curry Reveals He Asked Kyrie Irving for Permission to Debut Signature ANTA Shoes vs. Mavs
Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry divulged that he reached out to Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving for permission to wear his signature shoe during Thursday's game against the Mavs.
Curry wore the ANTA KAI 3, which is Irving's newest shoe, but he had a phone call with Kyrie and wanted to get his blessing first since Irving hasn't yet had the chance to wear his new shoes in a game:
The 37-year-old Curry noted that the decision to get clearance from Irving beforehand was out of "mutual respect and admiration for what he's done in his career."
Kyrie is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season, which is why he hasn't been able to wear the ANTA KAI 3 in a game yet.
While sporting Irving's newest kicks, Curry led all scorers on Thursday night with 38 points on 14-of-27 shooting. However, the Mavs prevailed 123-115 thanks to 30 points from Naji Marshall and 21 each from Cooper Flagg and Max Christie.
