Jack Campbell, Lions Agree to Contract Extension, Reported Details Revealed After Option Decision
The Detroit Lions and linebacker Jack Campbell announced Thursday they came to terms on a new contract extension.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Lions previously declined their fifth-year option on Campbell's contract. It would have cost Detroit $21.9 million in 2027, per Over the Cap.
The Lions selected Campbell with the No. 18 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He won the Butkus Award and William V. Campbell Trophy in his final collegiate season (2022) and earned unanimous All-American honors as well.
Campbell has thrived in Detroit and never more than in 2025, when he earned All-Pro First Team honors after amassing 176 tackles (89 solo), five sacks, four pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
He's been a sensational pickup for the Lions, who also selected superstar running back Jahymr Gibbs in the first round of the 2023 draft to create an impressive haul that year.
To the surprise of no one, Campbell is back in town. Although the Lions declined their fifth-year option, it's clear the Lions wanted to extend Campbell to keep him in town long-term and avoid that massive 2027 cap hit. They accomplish those goals with this deal.
