NBA Trade Rumors on Raptors' Deadline Plans amid Ja Morant, Anthony Davis Links
The Toronto Raptors reportedly plan to get busy at the trade deadline.
According to Sportsnet's Michael Grange, general manager Bobby Webster "is scouring the market for bold moves that could accelerate the Raptors' timeline." One source told Grange that the front office is "feeling pressure to win."
"I've heard multiple times that they are feeling some pressure to win," said one Western Conference source. "They are interested in a significant move because they feel some heat to justify their jobs."
The Raptors have been viewed as a possible suitor for disgruntled Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, but Grange reported that one source said Toronto has no trade interest in the point guard.
As for the oft-injured Anthony Davis, Grange noted that the "timing doesn't seem right" for the Raptors to trade for him. Trading for Davis wouldn't exactly be a wise long-term strategy, and Toronto isn't quite ready to make such a risky move in hopes of competing immediately.
The Raptors have had a surprisingly successful campaign so far, as they're sitting in fourth place in the East at 25-19.
