Latest Ja Morant Trade Rumors on Potential Landing Spots After Return from Injury for Grizzlies

Julia StumbaughJan 20, 2026

NBA insider Zach Lowe doesn't feel Ja Morant's dominant performance in his return from injury on Sunday has helped raise his value for a potential trade from the Memphis Grizzlies.

Morant posted 24 points and 13 assists in just 28 minutes during Saturday's win over the Orlando Magic in London, which marked his first contest back following a six-game injury absence.

"I have not found a team that has definitively said to me, 'We're definitely trying to get Ja Morant,'" Lowe said around the 22:40 mark of Tuesday's episode of The Zach Lowe Show by The Ringer. "And I have not heard anything since one good game happened."

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Jan. 9 that the Grizzlies were, for the first time, "entertaining offers" regarding a potential trade for Morant.

However, ESPN's Tim Bontemps said on a recent episode of the Hoop Collective podcast that he feels there has been "very limited interest" in Morant around the league.

Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman would reportedly be seeking "serious draft capital" in return for Morant, per The Athletic's Sam Amick.

That could be a prohibitive price given what has so far been a down season for Morant, alongside his availability issues and the size of his contract.

Morant only appeared in 59 games over his last two seasons with the Grizzlies, and he's set to play under a cap hit of at least $42 million for two more seasons.

He's also putting up 19.3 points per game through 19 appearances so far this season, which would mark his lowest full-season average since 2021, while missing 21 games amid knee and calf injuries.

When asked about trade rumors following the London win over the Magic, Morant told reporters earlier this week that he was a "very loyal guy" and that his tattoo of the Grizzlies logo "should tell you exactly where I want to be."

If Kleiman is unable to find a team interested enough in adding Morant to surrender draft capital, the point guard could ultimately end up sticking around in Memphis past the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
