Butler and Andrew Wiggins were part of a five-team trade last February and squared off in the matchup. Before exiting, Butler totaled 17 points, three rebounds and four assists, while Wiggins finished with 18 points and five rebounds.
Stephen Curry added 19 points, three rebounds and 11 assists, shooting 6-of-13 from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Moses Moody scored 13 points, and Quentin Post chipped in 15.
For Miami, Norman Powell led the way with 21 points, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. finished with 10 points and nine assists.

With the win, the Golden State Warriors improved to 25-19, maintaining eighth place in the Western Conference standings, just behind the Phoenix Suns at 26-17. The Miami Heat fell to 22-21.
Golden State carried a four-point lead into halftime, paced by 15 points from Butler, while Curry added 11. For Miami, Wiggins led all scorers with 18 points at the break, and Powell chipped in 13.
The Warriors stretched the margin to nine entering the fourth quarter and pulled away down the stretch to secure the 23-point victory.
Golden State will host the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday in the second night of a back-to-back.
