Stephen Curry Honors Father Dell With Reebok Pump Shoes in Photo Before Hornets vs. Warriors

Stephen Curry seemingly paid homage to the NBA career of his father, Dell Curry, with his sneaker choice prior to the Golden State Warriors' Saturday night matchup with the Charlotte Hornets.

Curry wore Reebok Pumps on Saturday in a nod to the brand deal his father signed with Reebok during his time with the Hornets.

Dell Curry played 701 games over 10 seasons with the Hornets between 1988 and 1998.

The Hornets announced last week they would be retiring his No. 30 jersey ahead of a March 19 game against the Orlando Magic.

He will join Bobby Phills, whose No. 13 was retired in 2000, as the only Hornets players to have their jerseys in the rafters at Spectrum Center.

It is unclear if Stephen and his brother Seth, who is also playing for the Warriors, will be able to attend the retirement ceremony. Golden State is set to play in Boston the night prior to the ceremony and in Detroit the following day.

Dell was named the Sixth Man of the Year in 1994 after playing all 82 games for the Hornets while averaging 16.3 points off the bench.

Today he still ranks first in Hornets franchise history in games played, and second only to Kemba Walker in both points (9,839) and three-pointers made (929).

Dell remains connected to the franchise today as a television analyst, a role he has held for 17 seasons, as well as a team ambassador.

Four players have worn No. 30 for the Hornets since he left the franchise, most recently including Seth last season.

Dell told reporters last week that Stephen had already asked if he would be allowed to wear No. 30 if he ever plays for the Hornets following his father's jersey retirement.

"That was a quick yeah," Dell said, per WCCB-TV's Kelli Bartik. "We'd take it down for that, no doubt."

Curry's decision to pay homage to his father's shoe deal comes after the Warriors star became the biggest sneaker free agent in basketball after parting ways with Under Armour late last season.

He has worn a variety of sneaker brands since the split, including multiple Reeboks ranging from the vintage Reebok Pumps to WNBA star Angel Reese's signature Reebok shoe.
