Latest on Pierce's Practice Status Ahead of Week 7
Wednesday, Oct. 21
John Oehser of Jaguars.com reported that Pierce returned to practice on Wednesday.
Pierce's Injury Leaves Jaguars Thin at RB
Pierce was expected to take the reins as Baltimore's starter last year, but he couldn't beat out Justin Forsett for the gig and finished with just 93 carries for 366 yards and two touchdowns in 2014. In March, he was cut from the Ravens after he was arrested and charged with DUI.
The Jaguars claimed Pierce shortly after, but the team drafted T.J. Yeldon in the second round. The Alabama product has emerged as the feature back, and Pierce has had only six carries for 11 yards and three catches for seven yards on the year. However, Yeldon also sat out the team's Week 6 game with a groin injury.
Behind Yeldon and Pierce, Denard Robinson has 47 yards on 13 carries, while Toby Gerhart has 36 yards on 14 attempts.
Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles is showing signs of progress in his second year under center, but he needs a viable rushing attack to help him out. Yeldon must get healthy, and anyone going down who can give him a breather may expedite the process of Yeldon hitting the rookie wall.
