Latest NBA Trade Rumors on Michael Porter Jr., Jonathan Kuminga amid Warriors Buzz

The Golden State Warriors aren't "super interested" in trading for Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. despite Jonathan Kuminga's uncertain future, according to NBA insider Zach Lowe.

ESPN's Shams Charania and Anthony Slater also reported Thursday that the Warriors hadn't held trade discussions with the Nets in "more than a month" and never showed "real interest" in acquiring Porter.

Kuminga demanded a trade from Golden State on Thursday, per Charania and Slater.

The 23-year-old has fallen out of the Warriors' rotation after starting to open the season, as he's played in just one game since Dec. 6.

Still, Kuminga's age and status as a former first-round pick could be enticing for a Nets squad looking to build towards the future. Meanwhile, Porter doesn't exactly fit Brooklyn's timeline at 27 years old.

He's been effective throughout his first year with the Nets and has championship experience during his tenure with the Denver Nuggets, though. Porter is averaging a career-high 25.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game on 48.6/40.1/84.1 shooting splits this season.

He projects as a strong offensive fit next to Stephen Curry on the Warriors, although they may have some concerns regarding his limitations on defense.

Golden State sits at 22-19 and has struggled with slowing down opponents as of late, ranking No. 22 among all teams with a 116.0 defensive rating over its past 10 games (via NBA.com).

The trade deadline for the 2025-26 season is on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
