Lakers' Luka Doncic, Thunder's SGA Among Stars Ineligible to Be Traded Ahead of NBA Deadline

Mike ChiariJan 15, 2026

Several NBA players became eligible to be traded on Thursday, but there is still a long list of players who still cannot be dealt.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, some of those names include Luka Dončić of the Los Angeles Lakers; Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder; Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic and Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks.

Lakers superstar LeBron James has trade restrictions as well, although he technically can be traded if he agrees to waive his no-trade clause.

Other players who can't yet be traded include Keaton Wallace of the Hawks, P.J. Washington of the Dallas Mavericks, Christian Braun of the Denver Nuggets, Seth Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Jabari Smith Jr. of the Houston Rockets, Aaron Nesmith of the Indiana Pacers, Kobe Brown of the Los Angeles Clippers, Nikola Jović of the Miami Heat, AJ Green of the Milwaukee Bucks, DeAndre Jordan of the New Orleans Pelicans, Mikal Bridges of the New York Knicks, Jett Howard of the Magic, Toumani Camara and Shaedon Sharpe, of the Portland Trail Blazers, Precious Achiuwa and Keegan Murray of the Sacramento Kings, and De'Aaron Fox of the San Antonio Spurs.

The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 5, and while some of the aforementioned players cannot be traded by that point, others can.

Most notably, Dončić's trade ineligibility ends on Feb. 2, Bridges' ends on Feb. 1 and Fox's ends on Feb. 4.

Many of the players who cannot be traded almost certainly weren't going to be moved regardless.

While Dončić was shockingly traded from the Mavs to the Lakers last season, he has found a home in L.A. and established himself as one of the leading NBA MVP candidates.

With Dončić and James leading the way, the Lakers are fifth in the Western Conference at 24-14, and they are one of several championship contenders out West.

The same goes for the superstar trio of Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams and Holmgren in OKC.

That triumvirate led the Thunder to their first championship last season, and they are the biggest reason why the Thunder have the best record in the league so far this season at 34-7.
