Chris Paul Talks NBA Retirement, Clippers Exit with Kevin Hart, Kenan Thompson in New Video

Veteran point guard Chris Paul doesn't want his messy exit from the Los Angeles Clippers to be his final memory in the NBA, but he's also still trying to figure out his next move.

Paul appeared on Good Sports With Kevin Hart & Kenan Thompson on Prime Video and discussed his impending retirement, revealing that while he's enjoyed his free time after parting ways with the Clippers, he's still looking to make a return this season.

"I'm working out and training every day, right? In all honesty, with what with the way all that stuff went down and all that, I think for me, I just love this game so much that I don't want it to end like that," Paul said (h/t HoopsHype). "So, I've enjoyed the time. I've enjoyed the time for sure. ... I get a chance to go to my kids' games, but I don't know yet. So, I don't know what team I hope to finish with."

PaulĀ announcedĀ in November that the 2025-26 season would be his last in the NBA. He had signed a one-year deal with the Clippers over the offseason, reuniting him with the team with whom he had spent most of his prime. Unfortunately, things quickly went awry.

The Clippers were 5-16 and 14th in the Western Conference when the news broke that they were parting ways with Paul. The divorce wasĀ announcedĀ unceremoniously in the middle of the night, with Paul being sent home to Los Angeles from the team's road trip on the East Coast.

Despite the questions still surrounding his departure from the Clippers, Paul continued to take the high road when given the opportunity to tell his side of the story.

When asked by Hart and Thompson what exactly happened that led to his release, the 40-year-old said with a smile, "Man, if I knew, I'd tell you."

The Clippers are now 17-23 and sit in 11th place in the West. The team is riding a four-game win streak into Friday's matchup against the Toronto Raptors (25-17).

Paul is unlikely to make an impact on the court at this stage in his career, but he can still be an effective leader on most teams. He should be looking to land with a franchise that could help him earn his first NBA championship, but it remains to be seen if a contender would be willing to add him to the roster for the remainder of this season before he officially ends his legendary career.
