Clippers' Lance Stephenson Drops New Song About Being Excited to Be in LA
Lance Stephenson didn’t diss anybody, but he did release a respectable rap Thursday.
Take a listen here (warning: NSFW language):
While everyone was clamoring about the feud between Drake and Meek Mill, Stephenson—who goes by Born Ready on the mic—was spitting about (a) how awesome he is at life and (b) basketball.
The Los Angeles Clippers swung a deal for the enigmatic shooting guard this summer. It’s the type of move that we’ll either praise or laugh at months from now.
Here are a few notable lines from “Check,” which includes some references to his new team and a possible shout-out to new teammate Paul Pierce:
- “I’m just tryna be the best baller I can be. Rapping is a hobby, I just go when I’m free. Two-a-days in the gym, seven days a week. Boy, the grind will never stop cause the family gotta eat.”
Clippers fans will enjoy this one. They can’t have their shooting guard focusing too much on his hip-hop career during the season:
- “Bumpin' in my Audi, now I’m out here in the West. Every day I’m working, I’m just tryna be the best.”
After moving from the Charlotte Hornets to the Clips, Stephenson seems to be relishing the Hollywood lifestyle:
- “Don’t take no losses, just the thought make me nauseous.”
It's a good thing Stephenson wasn’t around for LAC’s collapse against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals. He, like all Clippers fans, would’ve been sick:
- “Everybody know that boy the Truth, I’m going in from the gym to the booth.”
That's a nice, clever reference. Doc Rivers only cares about Stephenson going in on the court, though.
