How Lakers, Knicks Schedule Caused Rockets to Bus 85 Miles Before Loss to Kings
The Houston Rockets played the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night, but not before a very long bus ride.
According to John Hollinger of The Athletic, the Rockets couldn't get a hotel before the game because the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks had already booked all available rooms (the Kings played the Lakers on Monday and Knicks on Wednesday, and "every NBA team stays in the Sawyer Hotel in Sacramento," per Hollinger). The Knicks had a few days off between Sunday's game in Portland and their matchup with the Kings and chose to spend the time in Sacramento.
So instead, the Rockets shacked up in San Francisco and took an 85-mile bus ride to the Golden 1 Center. Oh, and right after the game they hopped on a plane and flew back to Houston, concluding a very busy day of travel.
It likely was a fairly grumpy flight home for the Rockets after a 111-98 loss to the Kings, snapping Sacramento's seven-game losing streak.
