'Ah S--t,' Anthony Edwards Reacts on Video to Wemby Guarding Him on GW Basket as Wolves Beat Spurs
Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards doesn't back down to many, but even he was intimidated when he saw San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama switch onto him on the final possession on Sunday.
"I was like, ah s--t," Edwards said.
Nonetheless, Edwards managed to get past the 7'4" Wembanayama to hit a floater that would end up being the game-winning shot.
Sunday's contest between the Timberwolves and Spurs had quite the ending. Jaden McDaniels gave Minnesota a one-point lead with just under 50 seconds left, but De'Aaron Fox answered with a jumper on the other end.
That led to Edwards' game-winner, followed by a defensive stop from the Wolves.
Edwards finished with a team-high 23 points in the 104-103 win. The 24-year-old is putting together the best season of his career so far, averaging 29.1 points per game on 50.1 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from deep.
Wembanyama posted 29 points and seven boards in 27 minutes as he continues to play on a minutes restriction. The third-year player is posting 24.1 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game this season.
The Wolves and Spurs have both put together strong starts to the 2025-26 campaign. San Antonio has made a significant jump from the last few seasons and is currently in second place in the West at 27-12, while Minnesota sits in fourth place at 26-14.
