Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards became just the seventh player in NBA history to score 10,000 or more points before turning 25 years old on Thursday, joining a list of legendary talents.

Edwards entered Thursday's home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with 9,977 career points. His two-point jumper with 6:54 left in regulation got him to 23 points on the evening and 10,000 exactly overall.

Edwards finished with 25 points overall on 10-of-20 shooting to help lead the Timberwolves to a 131-122 home win over the Cavs.

The 24-year-old Edwards is a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player who is averaging a career-high 29.3 points on 50.4 percent shooting. The six-year veteran is well on his way to All-Star and All-NBA honors once again as he almost certainly leads 25-13 Minnesota to another playoff appearance.

The No. 1 overall pick has enjoyed a tremendous NBA career thus far, as evidenced by this latest accolade. He's also enjoyed postseason success, having led Minnesota to the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back years.

For now, Edwards will look to continue his great season Saturday when Minnesota visits Cleveland.
