LeBron Talks Fit with Luka Doncic, Says It's Up to Lakers to 'Bend Our Game' Around PG
LeBron James has been the go-to option at every stop of his legendary career, but that is no longer the case in 2025-26 for the 41-year-old.
And he recognizes that Luka Dončić is the "franchise" player for the Los Angeles Lakers.
"Luka don't need to bend his game," James told reporters after Tuesday's 111-103 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. "Luka is our 27-year-old franchise. He don't need to bend his game, it's up to us to bend our game around him and figure it out. We just try to be dynamic, work off of him. We know he's an unbelievable pick-and-roll player, unbelievable shot-maker.

"… It's not a problem for me, it's not an issue for me."
The Dončić and James connection was on full display during the win with an alley-oop and impressive performance from the two stars.
Dončić posted 30 points and 10 assists, while James did a little bit of everything on his way to 30 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. They did the majority of the visitors' scoring in the first half to remain within striking distance, and Deandre Ayton provided some important support in the second half.
But the Lakers seized full control when James unleashed a windmill dunk late in the third quarter and then hit two three-pointers early in the fourth.
Fittingly, it was Dončić who put the finishing touches on the win with multiple late three-pointers. The one-two punch provided enough firepower to overcome a 42-point performance from Trey Murphy III on the other side.
James' comments are notable, as his dynamic with Dončić was a major storyline coming into the season. After all, the Lakers will surely build around Dončić for years to come, and there was no shortage of rumors about the King's future with the team during the offseason.
But the fit has not been a problem this season for the 23-11 Lakers, and the veteran is more than capable of bending his game to fit alongside his talented teammate.
