Justin Jefferson's Maturity, Leadership Reportedly Discussed by Rivals, NFL 'Circles'
Amid a disappointing season for the Minnesota Vikings, one of the constants for them was Justin Jefferson's positive attitude and leadership to help keep the team on track when things seemed close to veering off.
Per The Athletic's Dianna Russini, opposing players and people in NFL "circles" openly discussed Jefferson's maturity and leadership throughout this season.
Adding to that, The Athletic's Alec Lewis "has appropriately been lauded for his loyalty, especially during a season that was so emotionally and physically difficult."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
There were moments when Minnesota's struggles this season seemed to hit Jefferson hard. He specifically called it "one of the most difficult seasons" after a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13 because of all the new pieces they were trying to mix in:
"Obviously it's a difficult season. It's probably one of the most difficult seasons just off of the circumstances, having a young quarterback, having a different team, having young players on the team. So it's just one of those years. Not every year is going to be a top-tier year for me. It's really a part of the game, so it's just all on me to expect a lot from these guys and to improve on anything that we need to improve on as an offense."
One thing that Jefferson didn't do was publicly go after J.J. McCarthy amid the second-year quarterback's struggles. He said prior to Week 18 that it's not his job to make roster decisions, but he "would love" if McCarthy returned in 2026 because he has plenty to prove and the talent to do so:
"[But] of course I would love for him to be here. Of course I would love for him to be the quarterback. Especially off this year. I feel like he needs to show everybody and prove to everybody that he is that top-tier quarterback. So I would love to have him. I would love to work with him and show everybody that he is that No. 1 guy."
McCarthy is going to be the biggest storyline for the Vikings this offseason. He had a rough first season as the starter, throwing for 1,632 yards, 11 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 57.6 completion percentage in 10 starts.
Minnesota did go 6-4 in those games with McCarthy, but the level of play from the quarterback spot certainly has to improve if the Vikings want to get back to being a playoff contender.
It wouldn't be a surprise if Minnesota brings in a veteran free agent who can compete with McCarthy to be the starter.
Regardless of who is under center for the Vikings in 2026, they have one of the best safety nets in the NFL with Jefferson at wide receiver.
