Watch Deandre Ayton's Giddy Reaction After Throwing LeBron James Alley-Oop with Lakers
Los Angeles Lakers center Deandre Ayton threw a lob leading to an emphatic LeBron James slam dunk on Sunday en route to their team's 125-101 home win over the Sacramento Kings.
On Tuesday, Ayton was hyped to discuss the lob when Law Murray of The Athletic asked about it:
"Come on! You're the first person that said something about it! I've been waiting for somebody to ask me!" Ayton exclaimed.
"Not everybody can throw a lob to LBJ, dog…You gotta be that guy to throw that lob…nah I'm playin."
"Nah it was really just Luka throwing the ball in the pocket. You know, he was getting double-teamed, and I see LeBron cut from...
"I mean, come on man, he's a train. When he's coming down in the lane. It's so obvious, you can throw it up anywhere to that man and he'll catch it.
"But I was so happy when I ran to that bench. I was so happy they called a timeout after that play so I could just, you know, enjoy it. Just give me this moment right now."
Ayton has caught lobs from James before, and he spoke about it in November, per Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times.
The roles were switched this time around, and Ayton was thrilled to play the role of distributor.
