Jonathan Kuminga Trade Rumors on Kings 'Interest' amid Warriors' NBA Deadline Buzz

Doric SamDec 30, 2025

As the Golden State Warriors explore potential trades for forward Jonathan Kuminga ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline, one team reportedly has remained consistent in its pursuit of the 23-year-old.

During an appearance on Sactown Sports 1140, The Athletic's Sam Amick reported that the Sacramento Kings "do still have interest" in acquiring Kuminga.

Amick explained that the Kings were among the teams pursuing Kuminga when he was a restricted free agent over the summer, along with the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls. However, it's unclear what type of return the Warriors would be getting in any trade involving Kuminga at this point.

"For one, the Kings and everyone else, the price has gone down, it just has," Amick said. "So what does that look like in a possible Kings deal, because the Warriors are known to not have interest in Malik Monk, and he was front and center in those discussions in the offseason. So is it a [DeMar DeRozan] thing potentially? Who knows? I don't probably see that happening."

Kuminga was a healthy scratch in Golden State's 120-107 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night, and he hasn't played since Dec. 18. In his 18 appearances this year, he's averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists.

The Warriors re-signed Kuminga to a two-year deal this past offseason, so he won't be eligible to be traded until Jan. 15. Once that date comes, it can be expected that both sides will be ready to part ways and end their contentious saga.

Kuminga's next chance to see some action will be on Wednesday when the Warriors (17-16) visit the Charlotte Hornets (11-21).
