Luka, Giannis Headline 1st NBA All-Star Game Voting Results for 2026 Rosters
Nobody has caught the attention of NBA fans more in the early going this season than Luka Dončić and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
As ESPN's Shams Charania relayed Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks playmakers lead the NBA's first All-Star fan voting returns:
Dončić checks in ahead of Nikola Jokić, Stephen Curry, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama in the top five of the Western Conference, while Antetokounmpo is ahead of Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham and Donovan Mitchell in the top five of the Eastern Conference.
This season's All-Star Game is scheduled for Feb. 15 at the Intuit Dome, which is the home of the Los Angeles Clippers.
It will also feature a new format that will have more of an Olympic feel than the traditional game between the best players in the Eastern Conference and Western Conference.
The NBA announced in November this season's All-Star Game would feature two teams of players from the United States and one team of international players facing each other in a round-robin tournament of four 12-minute games.
After each team plays each other, the two teams with the best record will face off in the championship game. The tiebreaker in the round-robin format will be point differential.
Despite the changes to the format, five players from each conference will be honored as starters and chosen by the fans (50 percent of the vote), players (25 percent) and media (25 percent). The reserves will be selected by the coaches.
Each team will have at least eight players, and commissioner Adam Silver will select additional All-Stars if needed to fill out the roster requirements.
One look at the current voting leaderboard underscores how daunting of a task the United States teams could face at the All-Star Game. Dončić, Antetokounmpo, Jokić, Gilgeous-Alexander and Wembanyama are all in the top five of their respective conference voting and would suit up for the international teams.
That includes the voting leaders in Dončić and Antetokounmpo.
Perhaps the American teams will be able to rely on their overall depth, but many of the league's brightest stars are international players.
And they will be teaming up for the All-Star Game.
