'I Would've Booed Us, Too,' Anthony Edwards Backs T-Wolves Fans After Loss to Nets

Julia StumbaughDec 28, 2025

Anthony Edwards says he understands why Minnesota Timberwolves fans were upset with their home team while watching Saturday night's 123-107 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The Timberwolves (20-12) fell behind in the third quarter and were unable to recover against a Nets team that improved to 10-19 with the win.

"We got booed and s--t by the fans today. I'm with the fans. I would've booed us too, s--t," Edwards told reporters after the game (h/t Andrew Dukowitz). "But yeah, lack of energy. I don't know what's going on. I guess this is just Timberwolves basketball."

Edwards scored a team-high 28 points on 10-for-22 shooting from the field while playing 35 minutes in the blowout loss.

The best performance on the court, however, belonged to the Nets' Cam Thomas, who returned from injury to rack up 30 points in just 20 minutes on the court.

The Timberwolves finished the game having been outshot from the field, 55 percent to 45 percent, while also getting outscored in the paint 66-46 and out-rebounded 39-34.

Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch specifically called out four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert for letting the Nets find so much success within the two-point range.

"We didn't play with physicality. They got to the corner on us, and Rudy was too far down the floor," Finch told reporters after the game (h/t Dukowitz). "We gave them too much of a runway."

Finch was also asked if the Wolves were self-aware of their inconsistent performances. The team is just eight days removed from beating the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.

"If you were really self aware, you would do something about it," Finch answered, per Ryan Eichten.

If the Timberwolves can't find an answer to the lack of energy described by Edwards soon, the team could potentially look to shake up the roster ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline and a hopeful playoff run next spring.
