2 Players Ejected After Suns-Pelicans Fight on Video, Who Got Tossed?
A scuffle broke out during the Phoenix Suns' 123-114 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.
In the third quarter of the game, Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado picked up a foul after attempting to fight through a screen by Suns center Mark Williams. Alvarado and Williams then exchanged shoves, which prompted a fight.
Both players were ultimately ejected from the contest.
The Suns led 87-83 at the time of the brief brawl before holding on for the nine-point win.
Williams finished with 10 points and eight rebounds in 11 minutes on the floor while shooting 4-of-9 from the field.
As for Alvarado, he scored seven points and dished out three assists to go along with two steals. He shot 3-of-7 from the field and 1-of-3 from three-point territory.
Tensions may have been higher than usual considering both teams were familiar with facing one another, as the Suns previously wrapped up a 115-108 win over the Pelicans on Friday night.
Alvarado hasn't been afraid to get physical before, as he previously got into an altercation with Houston Rockets wing Amen Thompson during a preseason clash on Oct. 14.
He was also suspended three games for his involvement in a fight involving the Pelicans and Miami Heat in Feb. 2024.
New Orleans fell to 8-25 following Saturday's defeat, while Phoenix improved to 18-13.
