Spurs vs. Thunder Hailed by Fans as NBA's Best Rivalry as SGA, Wemby Duel on Christmas
If the recent meetings between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder proved anything, it's that the latest NBA rivalry officially has been born.
The Spurs and Thunder met on Christmas Day for the third time within the past two weeks, and for the third time, San Antonio was victorious over the reigning NBA champions with a 117-102 win on Oklahoma City's home floor at the Paycom Center.
After the game, Gilgeous-Alexander praised the Spurs while speaking with reporters:

"[The Spurs] know how to play. They have talent. They play the right way."
He added: "You don't lose to a team three times in a row in a short span without them being better than you."
It was clear from the start that neither team was feeling the holiday spirit, as they both brought the intensity on both ends of the floor with a blistering 41-36 first quarter in the Spurs' favor. San Antonio continued to pull away gradually, leading by as many as 17 in the second half.
Veteran guard De'Aaron Fox led the Spurs with 29 points, while star big man Victor Wembanyama added 19 points and 11 rebounds off the bench as he continues to round into form in his return from a calf injury. Reigning NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 22 points, but he shot 7-of-19 against a stifling San Antonio defense.
Fans on social media were buzzing with excitement over the Spurs establishing themselves as a true threat to the Thunder:
The Spurs and Thunder will face each other two more times this season, but San Antonio has already won the regular-season series. Wembanyama and company appear to be in the final stages of their rebuild, and they could become a true title contender this season.
For now, the Spurs (23-7) will try to extend their win streak to six straight games when they meet the Utah Jazz (10-19) on Saturday. The Thunder (26-5) will try to bounce back from their first two-game skid of the season on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers (16-12).
