Steph Curry Reflects on Warriors' Christmas Games vs. LeBron James, More With Photos
Stephen Curry is ready to play another Christmas Day game.
The Golden State Warriors star wished everyone a happy holiday season and said it's "always a blessing to play on Christmas" with pictures from previous games against LeBron James and others:
That Curry is feeling reflective isn't particularly surprising.
After all, he is 37 years old and playing in his 17th season. He has openly talked about retirement even though he has remained publicly unsure of a potential timeline and is part of an aging group of superstars who have helped define the league for a generation.
The NBA is featuring a number of those stars on its Christmas slate this year with Curry's Warriors facing Anthony Davis' Dallas Mavericks and James' Los Angeles Lakers battling Kevin Durant's Houston Rockets as two of the five contests.
One of the most legendary Christmas games also featured Curry and James when the Warriors faced the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016. Cleveland had just defeated Golden State in the 2016 NBA Finals the previous season after the Warriors won the title over James and Co. in 2015, which added to the drama.
So did Golden State's addition of Durant during the prior offseason.
However, that wasn't enough to counter double-doubles from James (31 points and 13 rebounds) and Kyrie Irving (25 points and 10 assists) in Cleveland's 109-108 win. Irving drilled the game-winning shot in the final seconds just like he hit what proved to be the winning shot in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals.
Curry and the Warriors got the last laugh in the 2017 NBA Finals, but it was a holiday to remember.
NBA fans would be incredibly fortunate if he played in a similar game Thursday.
