Jaylen Brown Reacts to Viral Hair Videos, NBA Rivals 'Lucky… I Left My Mark on Them'

Doric SamDec 21, 2025

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown has drawn attention throughout this season for his hair product choices, but he's not backing down from the haters.

While speaking to Jackie Fields of People, Brown had a confident response to the viral videos that showed his hairspray leaving residue on opposing players.

"I was a little bit embarrassed. And then I got mad at myself for being embarrassed at all," Brown said. "After a while, it was like, 'Those dudes should be grateful.' They're lucky that I left my mark on them. I should get a thank you card: 'You have the residue of a champion on you. You're welcome.'"

Brown revealed that he started to experience "hair issues" one or two years ago, so he partnered with hair growth supplement brand Nutrafol to address his hair thinning and to "destigmatize hair loss and conversations around the topic," per Fields. The 29-year-old feels that the stress of winning an NBA championship in 2024 and trying to defend the title last season played a part in his hair loss.

"It's the high expectation to win [the championship], or the season is a failure," he explained.

It now appears that Brown has reached a new level of confidence in spite of his hair issues, and he won't mind leaving his mark on other players going forward.

"I know a lot of people are afraid of embarrassment and afraid of failure and afraid of looking silly or whatever the case may be. And I started to notice about myself, one, I could care less," he said. "And, two, when those moments happen and people think they're making fun of me, it actually makes me become a stronger, more disciplined, more focused individual. So I'm like, 'Why not?' I'd do it next week if I needed to get my mind to where it needed to be. I'll rub my hair on three more teams."
