Vikings' Plane Experiences Mechanical Issue, Returns to Airport Ahead of Giants Game
The Minnesota Vikings experienced a travel delay prior to a matchup with the New York Giants on Sunday.
Minnesota's team plane was forced to return to Minneapolis after taking off due to mechanical issues, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
"Shortly after departing, the team plane experienced mechanical issues that required a return to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport," the Vikings said in a statement, via Pelissero. "The team will board a second plane momentarily and is now expected to arrive at Newark International Airport later tonight."

Making Sense of 2026 NFL Draft's Worst Picks 😨
As of 6:55 p.m. ET on Saturday, the Vikings released a statement saying the team is waiting for the arrival of a second plane with plans to depart Saturday night:
While Minnesota was eliminated from playoff contention in Week 15, the team is still attempting to end its 2025 campaign on a high note.
The Vikings should still have enough time to hold their typical pregame meetings at their hotel after arriving at Newark International Airport later on Saturday night, per Ben Goessling of the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Minnesota isn't the only team to navigate through travel issues as of late, with the Los Angeles Rams experiencing flight delays prior to a 38-37 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.
The Vikings sit at 6-8 on the season, but are currently riding a brief two-game win streak despite their playoff elimination.
First-year starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy has been a reason for optimism moving forward, as he's starting to put his struggles to open the season behind him.
McCarthy has completed 66.0 percent of his throws for 413 yards and five touchdowns compared to one interception over his past two appearances, averaging 8.8 yards per attempt. The Vikings have outscored their opponents 65-26 over that span.
They'll now face a 2-12 Giants squad that has struggled defensively, ranking No. 29 in the NFL by allowing 28.3 points per game.
Kickoff between Minnesota and New York on Sunday is at 1 p.m. ET.
