SGA, Thunder Bounce Back After NBA Cup Loss, Impress Fans in Win vs. Kawhi, Clippers
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 19 of his 32 points in the third quarter to lead the 25-2 Oklahoma City Thunder to a 122-101 home win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday evening.
OKC won its first eight games, dropped a 121-119 matchup to the Portland Trail Blazers and then rolled off 16 straight wins going into the NBA Cup semifinals against the San Antonio Spurs. OKC played tough but ultimately lost 111-109.
However, OKC went back to its dominant and winning ways quickly. The Thunder outscored L.A. 76-50 over the second and third quarters to take a 103-83 lead into the fourth and then cruised from there.
Outside of SGA, Chet Holmgren dropped 22 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Williams added 20 points, and Ajay Mitchell dominated off the bench with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Some stats tell the story of the Thunder's dominance over the Clippers, who fell to 6-21.
Overall, fans were awfully impressed with the Thunder, who continue to crush the league on a nightly basis.
OKC has a quick turnaround now and will visit the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
