Adam Silver Discusses 'Unique Locations' Eyed for Future NBA Cup Finals Matchups

Andrew PetersDec 16, 2025

Big changes could be coming to the NBA Cup Finals.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said ahead of Tuesday's NBA Cup Championship between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks that the league has discussed moving future championship games to another location, perhaps even iconic collegiate arenas.

"We're talking with Amazon Prime about whether it makes sense to maybe go to some unique locations for the final game," Silver said. "They have suggested, for example, some like storied college arenas. We're just looking at other ways we could do this."

While it seems things are still in the planning stages, a change of scenery could be interesting, and moving games to venues like Allen Fieldhouse, Cameron Indoor Stadium and other arenas would give fans a unique change of scenery.

As it stands now, the majority of NBA Cup games are played at NBA teams' arenas, though the semifinal and championship have been played at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, for the first three years of the tournament. Starting next season, the semifinal matchups will be played at team arenas rather than a neutral location.

The league's contract with T-Mobile Arena ends after Tuesday's matchup, and it appears Silver might be ready for a change of location.
