Dak Prescott 'Pissed Off' With Cowboys Nearing Elimination from NFL Playoff Picture

Scott PolacekDec 15, 2025

The Dallas Cowboys are incredibly unlikely to make the playoffs following back-to-back losses to the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, and Dak Prescott isn't happy about it.

"Yeah, definitely surprised," he told reporters following Sunday's loss to Minnesota. "Especially after the bye week and the trades got rolling like we did for those few weeks, and then watch the confidence just skyrocket. [We] stopped teams scoring at will, coming back from 21 points [against the Eagles].

"Just a lot of good wins there to be in this position. Just reminds you that every play matters. It's a hard game. Those guys get paid, too. They practice throughout the week and prepare no different than we do. It's tough. I'm definitely surprised, hurt, pissed off, frustrated, but all I can do is get better tomorrow."

According to ESPN's NFC playoff projections, the Cowboys have less than a one percent chance to make the postseason after Sunday's games.

Yet Prescott stressed that he and the team will still be giving 100 percent effort as they finish the season with games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders and New York Giants.

"You're a professional football player. You have to come to work and give your absolute best, regardless," he said.

It has been a roller coaster of a season for Dallas. It started off 3-5-1 and looked nothing like a playoff team but then won three in a row to improve to 6-5-1. Two of those wins came against last season's Super Bowl teams in the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, and the trade for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams seemed to rejuvenate that side of the ball.

Suddenly, the playoffs were not out of the question at all, especially with the Week 14 game against a fellow wild-card contender in the Lions looming.

However, the Cowboys lost that one and Sunday's game against the Vikings while giving up a combined 78 points. Prescott had just one touchdown pass to two interceptions in those two contests, so it's not as if he was individually dominant either while the defense struggled.

The end result will surely be a second straight season with Dallas on the outside looking in at the playoff picture.
