NFL Draft 2026 Scouting Report for Alabama S Keon Sabb

Daniel HarmsDec 18, 2025

Keon Sabb is the type of high-level athlete who can blanket the middle of the field, which is what NFL teams want to bet on in their secondary.

He's a long defender with explosive downhill speed and twitchy movements to make plays from multiple alignments and close on receivers in an instant. After a foot injury in the 2024 season, Sabb, who was playing at a high level, took some time to get going this season, but he found his form.

The former 4-star recruit and 4-star transfer from Michigan played in seven games in 2024. He compiled 39 tackles (24 solo), two interceptions, and four passes defensed, and was on his way to an impressive season before the injury. He's had his fair share of inconsistent play, but the flashes and high-level tape are tantalizing.

Dan has covered the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL Draft since 2019 while contributing for RGR Football. Most recently, he spent the 2025 draft cycle at The Draft Network and is entering his first season in our scouting department.

Where He Wins

1 of 4
Alabama v South Carolina

— Sabb's instincts and route recognition over the middle of the field make him an ideal robber. Quick to close on in breaking routes and flow with the quarterback's eyes, he deters throws or attacks the catch point.

— An explosive mover downhill with controlled bursts and stop-and-start ability. He triggers downhill in the perimeter run-and-screen game while reading and reacting quickly with athletic hips.

— The 6'1", 204-pound defender can play multiple roles in the secondary and possesses unique nickel upside. With his length, foot speed, and change of direction, he can handle tight ends and receivers.

— A willing and receptive communicator, he passes off routes into different zones and sees route concepts well to take over those coming into his zone.

— He's a reliable safety valve on the back end with patience as a tackler and the technique to back it up. Can also be an effective blitzer to get in the backfield to create pressures and tackles for loss.

Areas of Improvement

2 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: OCT 11 Alabama at Missouri

— Sabb needs to be more consistent from a single-high or deep safety responsibility. He out-leverages himself too often and can let receivers into more space away from his alignment.

— His high pad level contributes to a hitch in his backpedal and change of direction when turning to run. Needs to trust his instincts and athletic ability while maintaining hip sink in his backpedal.

— While he's a good tackler when he squares up the ball carrier, his pursuit angles can put him in poor positions and see him missing tackles.
