Under Armour Curry One 'Golf' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price
Stephen Curry was the NBA's best player in 2014-15, winning the league's MVP award and leading the Golden State Warriors to an NBA title. But basketball isn't his only sport—the star guard is pretty darn good at golf too.
Good enough that Under Armour has gone so far as to design a Curry One "Golf" colorway inspired by Curry's proficiency on the links. This release will come in the mid-style and will be available on July 31, retailing at $120, per SoleCollector.com, which also features various images of the kicks.
The site released an image of the shoe on Twitter:
Curry's golf game is no joke. Michael Collins of ESPN recently said on his podcast that he felt Curry could compete professionally in the sport.
"If [Steph Curry] quit basketball, and took eight months and only trained in golf, he could probably make the tour," said Collins, per Kyle Porter of CBS Sports. "The Web.com Tour for sure, but he could probably make it on the PGA Tour."
His father, former NBA player Dell Curry, also sang his son's praises on the golf course, per Jeffrey Eisenband of ThePostGame.com:
"When we play, he hits balls and we go out and it's three summers in a row he's put up scores in the 60s.
If Steph got a golf coach and practiced and put in the time like he does in basketball, he could play. He's really good. He's that good. He doesn't miss a lot of shots, and when he does, he can recover. He thinks he can make any putt he stands over.
"
So yes, it is only fitting that Under Armour would pay tribute to Curry's golf game.
These shoes are a cool, clean nod to the star's ability on the course. The colorway featured above is less flashy than some of the other shoes in the Curry One series, appropriate for the more understated attire you generally see on the golf course.
The golf reference under the tongue is also a subtle touch. All in all, this looks like a tasteful, well-designed shoe and one that not only pays tribute to Curry's skill on the links, but also his overall personality and style.
