What is Devin Booker's Timeline to Return to Suns amid Groin Injury?

Andrew PetersDec 3, 2025

The Phoenix Suns will have to manage without their star for at least a week.

Per ESPN's Shams Charania, Devin Booker suffered a right groin strain in Monday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers and will be re-evaluated in one week.

Booker scored 11 points in 10 minutes against the Lakers before exiting with the groin injury. Phoenix held on to beat Los Angeles 125-108.

Booker is coming off one of the healthiest seasons of his career, and he's hoping to carry that injury luck into the 2025-26 campaign. Last year, Booker played 75 games, his most since the 2016-17 season, putting up 25.6 points and a career-high 7.1 assists per game.

Over the offseason, the Suns rewarded their franchise player by giving him a two-year, $145 million maximum extension, which is the highest annual extension salary in NBA history.

The Suns are in a reset year after trading Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets and moving on from Bradley Beal over the offseason. Despite a completely reshaped roster, Phoenix has had a surprisingly good start to the season. The Suns are currently in playoff position at 13-9.

Booker has led the way all year, but Phoenix has also gotten solid play elsewhere.

Dillon Brooks, whom the Suns acquired in the Durant trade, is putting up a career-high 22.3 points per game and dropped a season-high 33 points against the Lakers on Monday. Grayson Allen also seems on his way to a career year, posting 17.9 points per game after moving into the starting lineup this season.

With Booker set to miss at least a week of action, the Suns will count on Brooks and Allen to continue their strong play and keep Phoenix in the mix in the West.
