Chris Paul Headlines 3-Team Trade with Raptors, Nets & Clippers, Latest Rumors on CP3's NBA Future

Julia StumbaughFeb 4, 2026

Chris Paul is on the move after his sudden split with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Clippers are reportedly trading Paul to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday in a 3-team deal that also includes the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN's Shams Charania.

Ochai Agbaji, a 2032 Raptors second-round pick and cash will be sent to the Nets in the move, per Charania. Los Angeles will receive the rights to Vana Marinkovic from the Nets to complete the deal, per NBA insider Jake Fischer.

While Paul is being traded, it doesn't sound like his next home will be in Toronto as Charania reports that the Raptors will not require him to report to the team and could still discuss trades involving him before the deadline.

That said, Charania also reported of Paul on NBA Countdown that "It's not certain whether he's gonna play again in the NBA as of right now."

Paul first indicated there was a split between himself and the Clippers in a post late on Dec. 2, in which wrote he was being "sent home."

Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank then said in a Dec. 3 statement that the team was "parting ways" with Paul and would "work with him on the next step of his career."

The Clippers were 5-16 at the time of Paul's departure. Both ESPN's Shams Charania and NBA insider Chris Haynes reported there had been a rift between Paul and head coach Tyronn Lue prior to the Clippers' decision.

Paul had hoped to finish out his NBA career with the Clippers, according to Haynes, but now it remains unclear where he'll play next.

While Paul was traded to the Raptors, Toronto will not require him to report to the team, meaning his future remains in flux. Whether he gets traded to another team or gets bought out by the Raptors is to be determined.
