Dwyane Wade Reveals Plan to Improve NBA All-Star Game amid Criticism

Zach BacharDec 2, 2025

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade detailed his plan to improve the NBA All-Star Game.

"I don't feel like we should stop and do the All-Star Game in middle of season no more," Wade said on his podcast, The Why with Dwyane Wade.

"I look at it like the Pro Bowl," he added. "For me, the All-Star Game should be a trip, a vacation, an experience for the people who are making it and the families who are part of it."

Concerns regarding the competitive nature of the All-Star game have steadily increased in recent years, with format changes becoming a topic of discussion.

The NBA announced a new structure for the 2025-26 All-Star Game on Nov. 11, as two teams containing players from the United States and one team of international players are set to compete in a round-robin tournament.

The three teams will participate in three 12-minute matchups, with the two teams that compile the best records advancing to face off in the championship game.

Wade, a 13-time All-Star, seems to be a fan of the NFL's Pro Bowl schedule. The NFL initially held the Pro Bowl during the week after the Super Bowl before being moved up to the week before the Super Bowl for the first time in 2010.

The 2025-26 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Feb. 15.
